About Us

The Slant is a satire and humor publication that has been turning Vanderbilt on its head…since 1886. We’ve caused a lot of mayhem in our 130 years of life, whether it was a fake Rites of Spring lineup, a fake derby debacle or convincing everyone that the chancellor was dead.

The Slant had its humble beginnings in 1886 as the first and only satire publication to grace Vanderbilt’s rusty newsstands. We have since cultivated an online presence second only to our hatred of The Hustler, and we hope that the blood feud between our organizations lasts until our dying days. Through satirical journalism, digital artwork and videography, The Slant seeks to poke fun at and—in our finer moments—critique what goes on at Vandy, in America and in the World.
